Dental Technologies

Our Montgomery periodontal practice specializes in the treatment of periodontal disease, cosmetic periodontics and the placement of dental implants.

Dentistry continues to benefit from the ongoing development of dental technologies and advances in clinical dentistry. As a periodontal specialty practice, we enjoy the diagnostic and restorative capabilities of digital imaging tools and dental implants:

Digital Imaging

Digital radiography allows us to take dental xrays and enlarge them on computer monitors for closeup viewing and to share our findings with you. Because the xrays are digital, they require less radiation than traditional film and give us the ability to send your xrays electronically to your referring dentist.

We also use small intraoral cameras to take photos of your teeth and gums. About the size of an electric toothbrush, intraoral photo imaging tools give us the ability to show you exactly what we see during your periodontal examination.

Dental Implants

Implant dentistry has become a common restorative option for replacement of missing teeth. Dental implants can be used to replace a single tooth, or to secure a bridge or denture. Read more about dental implants.

Dr. Trammell may use a special 3D cone beam radiograph for planning placement of a dental implant (cone-beam computed tomography, or CBCT). The CBCT image and 3D software give him the tools to view the jaw bone from any angle and help him determine the optimal site for the dental implant.

Our practice uses electronic dental charting software to help us record your periodontal examination data and track your healing progress over time.

LANAP® Protocol Therapy

LANAP® (Laser-assisted new attachment procedure) protocol for Laser Gum Surgery

Dr. Trammell is a certified LANAP® protocol provider. LANAP® protocol is used to treat moderate to advanced periodontal disease and infection around dental implants. Dr. Trammell utilizes the PerioLase® MVP-7™ to eradicate harmful oral bacteria to reduce inflammation and promote healing.

The PerioLase® MVP-7™ combines laser energy with a steady water spray to perform treatment that in the past required a surgical incision followed by stitches. The incremental action of the dental laser makes it more comfortable for the patient, and the less invasive approach vs. cutting procedures improves healing times greatly.
